Childhood Education: A study by a teacher and astrologer

This article on astrology and education originally appeared in Dell Horoscope, the world’s leading astrology magazine. My new article “When a Flower Speaks” appears in the May/June 2018 issue. Dismissed for their lack of precision, non-replicable results and miniscule databases, modern day astrologers are often ridiculed by their skeptics. Can astrologers step up to the scientific plate or will they go down with the pseudoscience ship? In my role as a schoolteacher, the bias against being an astrologer was so great that I was actually threatened with dismissal should any parent complain about my interests in the subject. As I […]

Happy Solstice 2018

It’s the Winter Solstice 2018 for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere and Summer Solstice for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere. Wherever you are, the solstices are not only astronomically important but important markers in human life as well. Personally, I’ve always used the solstices to to reflect on what I’ve achieved and make new goals and targets. Everyone always says how quickly the year has passed. So much has happened this year that I look back on it in absolute awe. I’ll be posting the yearly horoscopes soon so be sure to pop back in. I’ve […]

One of the UK’s TOP THREE Astrology Websites?

So out of the blue, I got an email informing me that this website is one of the UK’s TOP THREE astrology websites! This site was chosen by a panelist from the Top 10 UK Astrology Blogs! I’m especially delighted as I’ve also just completed the arduous task of writing 14 astrology conference reviews! I’ve beautifully linked the reviews altogether in my article “10 Reasons Why You Need to Get Yourself to an Astrology Conference”. This project has been something I’ve been working on for some time now. It’s wonderful when things come together at the right time. I’m hoping […]

Alex’s Top 2019 Moments

Welcome to Alex’s Top 2019 Moments! I had a fabulous 2019–and I honestly thought I couldn’t out do 2018 with the IVC conference in India and United Astrology Conference and a whole lot of other great stuff. I hope you had a great 2019 and I also hope that this post will inspire you to reflect back on the good times. Let’s BLOW UP 2020! Given I started this millennium homeless with 3 young children (yes really), I appreciate being able to share my achievements. Thank you for indulging me and supporting my work in Astrology and Education. And I […]

Astrology for Millennials suddenly became a big thing in the past few years! But what does it take to become a qualified astrologer? How can anyone know the difference between a qualified astrologer and one who has learned a few things about clever marketing? To answer this, I’ve devised this handy, slightly tongue-in-cheek guide to how to become an astrologer in 26 easy steps. A quick commercial break! I hate to remind you but summer is almost finished and it’s almost time to get ready to go back to school! I know you parents are happy! And all you teachers […]

Astrology for Parents

In 2020, it was my very great pleasure to write a column on Astrology and Children for the Organisation for Professional Astrologers (OPA). Astrology for Parents is the second instalment. It quickly became apparent to me that addressing the pitfalls of working with children by using astrology needed to be addressed. This area in astrology is unchartered and opinions around the ethics of reading charts for children vary. My opinion is that unless the astrologer has adequate qualifications and experience in working with children (beyond parenting) then it is safer to not offer this kind of service. And no astrologer, […]
