The Astrology of the Club of 27

This article was part of the front page for the ‘Club of 27’ webpage in 2005. It was the result of a presentation at the Astrological Lodge of London featuring the astrology of the 1960s and “Club of 27” members. The astrology charts of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain were discussed. Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011, was a later, tragic addition. The webpage must have inspired the editors of Wikipedia as they featured a ’27 Club’ page—sans astrology of course. Number Symbolism: Three Cheers For Three

In The Beginner’s Guide to Constructing the Universe, Michael S. Schneider points out that “one” and “two” were viewed by the ancient mathematical philosophers as the parents of numbers and therefore the number “three” would be the firstborn of the pair. Geometrically, three lines form the first object to have a measurable surface, the triangle. Three points represent the first shape with a measurable surface. An added point to this creates depth or a third dimension. According to Schneider, a tetrad or three dimensional triangle, “manifests itself in nature with greatest exactness at the borderline between nonliving and living forms.”[1] If three represents life itself then perhaps four can represent what is man-made: tables, chairs, desks, walls, floors, ceilings, monitors, picture frames, books.
