Alex Trenoweth was among the first cohort of students to earn an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from Bath Spa University (now associated with University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Lampeter), graduating in 2007. Mentored by Dr. Nicholas Campion, Director of the program, she studied alongside leading figures such as Liz Greene. This academic foundation provided the grounding for Alex’s later research into adolescence and astrology.

Alex Trenoweth’s contribution to astrology has been recognized internationally. In 2015, he was awarded the title of International Astrologer of the year at the Insititute of Vedic Culture (IVC) conference, an honour that brought her research and teaching to global attention (yes with a crown to prove it!).

The following year, she was installed as Secretary General to bring more international astrologers to India. In 2018 at the IVC conference, she was awarded an honorary PhD by the Krishnamurti Institute of Astrology (Kolkata) for her research into adolescence and cycles, and was given an award for Outstanding Service to Astrology.

Earlier, her work was supported by a research grant from the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), leading to publication and presentations that helped shape her later peer-reviewed output. Her findings have been cited in Peter Marko’s Lunar Effect Bibliography, and her methods are being adopted by other researchers and students, with new articles and references forthcoming.

Editorial Work

In addition to her books and research, Alex has an extensive background as an editor. She was the longest-serving editor of Astrology Quarterly since the legendary C.E.O. Carter, founded and launched Time Lords magazine, and also edited Constellation News, a publication connected with the Institute of Vedic Culture. These roles highlight her longstanding commitment to promoting thoughtful, ethical, and educational astrology.

Continuing Contributions

alex trenoweth with steve judd and rick levine at Shift Happens astrology event

In 2025, Alex has been an active presence in major international events. The landmark Shift Happens conference brought together some of the best-known names in astrology, with Alex sharing the stage alongside Steve Judd, Rick Levine, Penny Thornton, Nick Campion, and other distinguished colleagues. The event generated a wealth of material, much of which can be found on YouTube, and established Shift Happens as one of the most dynamic spaces for astrological dialogue in recent memory.

Building on this success, Alex and Steve Judd are planning a mini Shift Happens event in London (September 2025), continuing their partnership in creating accessible, engaging astrology for wider audiences.

Alex is also reaching new audiences through podcasting. Her latest project, Astrology and Cinema in Real Life, co-hosted with Margaret Gray of the Centre for Relationships in Astrology, explores the intersection of astrology, film, and relationships. The podcast extends the themes of Alex’s book Mirror Mirror into fresh conversations with colleagues and the public.
