Mirror Mirror: The Crown

I like to push the limits so I couldn’t resist giving “The Crown” the “Mirror Mirror” treatment. As chance would have it (!) I recently met Leigh Hughes who was in my very favourite (though tragic) episode “Aberfan”. I thought Jason Watkins was amazing as Harold Wilson and was nothing short of perfect (I love you Jason). As you will see from this article published in the ISAR Journal, there are incredible connections! And of course, after a long convo about films, I couldn’t resist a selfie with Leigh! Please do get your copy of “Mirror Mirror” from Amazon! Living […]

Katharine Hepburn

To celebrate Saturn’s ingress in to Pisces, we will look at the life and biographical film work of legendary Hollywood actress Katharine Hepburn, who had Saturn at 25°48’ Pisces. This article appeared in TimeLords magazine and parts of it have also featured in “Mirror Mirror”. Hepburn appeared in 44 feature films, 8 television movies and 33 plays in a career that lasted over 66 years. For the purposes of this column, she appeared in 3 biographical films: as the lead role in “Mary of Scotland”, Clara Schumann in “Songs of Love” and in the Oscar-winning role of Eleanor of Aquitaine […]

Mirror Mirror: Lawrence of Arabia

“Lawrence of Arabia” holds a special place in my heart. Not only does it feaure the divine Peter O’Toole but it is a fascinating study of the history of cinematography. Although I had seen “Lawrence of Arabia” many years ago, towards the end of writing “Mirror Mirror”, I felt I deserved a quiet evening re-watching the masterpiece. I snuggled down on the settee with Mr Bubbles, my furry writing and film-watching buddy. Little Bubs snuggled happily and purr-fully in my arms as ogled and ahhhhed over Peter O’Toole. Sometime that night, I heard a muted thump and that was when […]

Mirror Mirror: “Milk”

A couple of years ago, I put the finishing touches on “Mirror Mirror” and I distinctly remember promising myself that I would get around to featuring “Milk”, the biopic of Harvey Milk brilliantly portrayed by Sean Penn (whose birthday it is today!). If you would like to hear more about famous people and the actors who portrayed them, then why not get your copy of “Mirror Mirror”? You can click on the link to purchase your copy in either paperback or kindle from Amazon. You can even purchase a signed copy (please note postage is extra) by visiting here. Synopsis […]

Mirror Mirror: Amadeus

The 18 August marks the birthday of Antonio Salieri, the alleged rival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was immortalised in the biopic “Amadeus”. As with many biopics, certain liberties are taken with the storylines with the truth often being distorted to make the protagonist look more like a hero and the antagonist seem more the villian. Whilst rumours circulated about the rivalry between Salieri and Mozart, it is unlikely Salieri had either time, resources or motivation to psycholigally torture Mozart into an early death. If you would like to hear more about famous people and the actors who portrayed them, […]
