Awakening the Monster: The Horror of Uranus at 9° Gemini
November 6, 2025
Back in May 2025, the Shifts Happen 2 conference in St Albans became one of those rare events that remind you why astrology still has the power to bring people together in wonder and joy.
It was, quite simply, the best astrology event I’ve ever been to.
I had the honour of sharing the stage with Rick Levine, Steve Judd, Penny Thornton, Nick Campion, and the gifted medium Amanda Ellis. The atmosphere was electric — full of warmth, laughter, and genuine curiosity. The food was beautiful (all vegetarian), the venue exquisite, and the company absolutely brilliant.
Before the conference, I led an Astrological Tour of London — a marathon journey through the city’s sacred and celestial landmarks. We began at St Paul’s Cathedral, where Charles and Diana’s ill-fated wedding took place under an eclipse (something any astrologer could have warned them about). We continued to Churchill’s wartime office above the astrological clock, then descended to the Mithraeum Museum near Bank, visited the London Stone, and had lunch near Tottenham Court Road before browsing the Astrology Shop on Neal Street.
We paused at the William Lilly plaque, admired the Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel’s zodiac mosaic (with cocktail in hand), and ended our pilgrimage with a view of Boudicca’s statue at Westminster — before collapsing, exhilarated, onto the train back to St Albans.
When we returned, Steve Judd greeted me at the door with a grin and the words, “You’ve got ten minutes to get ready — we’re filming.” It had been a hot London day, and I was a rather wilted version of myself, but with a quick costume change and a dash of adrenaline, I made it in front of the cameras just in time.
Over that remarkable weekend, I gave three talks:
“Mirror Mirror: The Astrology of Biopics”
“King Charles and the Bloody Crown of Algol”
“Astrology and Education”
Meanwhile, Rick Levine and Steve Judd gave their own masterful lectures, and Nick Campion delivered a beautiful presentation on The Soul. Penny Thornton and Amanda both inspired audiences with their wisdom, and in the evenings, Steve kept us entertained with his usual wit and spark.
It truly was a magical weekend — one that reminded us all that astrology, when done with heart, is both art and community.
And now… we’re doing it again.
I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be joining Steve Judd and Rick Levine once more for MiNi Shifts Happen: Microcosms — with both live tickets and live stream options available.
I’ll be speaking on William Herschel, Uranus, and Mary Shelley’s Vision of Horror — exploring how invention and imagination have shaped not only our world, but the terrors within it. Have we made the world a better place, or simply a more terrifying existence?
Steve Judd will unravel The Mercury–Mars Conjunction, tracing five conjunctions across five zodiac signs — a roadmap through cosmic intensity leading to the rare seven-planet alignment in Aries.
Rick Levine returns with What Is Real?, a mind-bending exploration of the 2026 Saturn–Neptune conjunction and what it means for our understanding of time, space, and consciousness.
