So. . .Rohini Academy of Astrology turns five this week.

It’s strange to write that sentence, because Rohini was never built for speed or scale. It grew quietly, through teaching, listening, safeguarding, and staying with questions longer than was comfortable. Five years feels less like a milestone and more like a pause — a moment to look back, take stock, and mark where things are now.

The Beginning: Lockdown and a New Cycle

Rohini Academy of Astrology was launched on 21 December 2020, exactly on the Jupiter–Saturn conjunction, marking the start of a new twenty-year cycle.

It was also the middle of lockdown.

The immediate and practical plan, therefore, was to keep Rohini entirely online. That decision wasn’t ideological so much as realistic. Teaching had to happen across borders, time zones, and living rooms. And yet, that constraint shaped Rohini in lasting ways.

From the beginning, the academy focused on:

• one-to-one training/small groups  rather than large groups
• ethical language and safeguarding
• developmental astrology rather than prediction
• teaching as a craft, not a performance

Rohini became international because it had to — and because that model proved meaningful.

Safeguarding, Responsibility, and Children’s Charts

One of the core strands of Rohini Academy is a three-level safeguarding course for astrologers who are considering, or already undertaking, work with children and families.

This course exists because working with children’s charts brings both opportunity and responsibility, and those responsibilities are often not adequately addressed within standard astrology training.

Level One offers a general safeguarding foundation. It is designed to help astrologers:

• understand the ethical responsibilities involved in working with children’s charts
• recognise potential risks and appropriate boundaries
• gain insight into child development through the lens of astrology
• reflect honestly on whether this is a path they wish to pursue

It also outlines the basic competencies astrologers should have before beginning work with children’s charts, including sufficient practice experience and developmental understanding.

At present, this is the only astrology course of its kind offering structured safeguarding education specifically for astrologers.

I’m able to teach this work because my background includes long-term experience working with families, alongside professional qualifications that allow safeguarding to be addressed practically and ethically. This combination is not common within the astrology world, and it is a responsibility I take seriously.

I’m especially happy to have an endorsement from my friend and fellow astrologer Margaret Gray who, as a fully qualified social worker, is as passionate as me in protecting children in the world of astrology. Protecting Your Practice

Across all three levels, the course focuses on protecting both your clients and your practice.

The full course:

• offers clarity on whether working with children and families is right for you
• explains what further qualifications or checks may be required before undertaking this work
• identifies where additional training or supervised practice is necessary
• positions me as an advisor, rather than a gatekeeper

While I cannot arrange background checks or professional clearance on a student’s behalf, the course makes clear what responsibilities sit with the astrologer and what must be undertaken independently before working with children’s charts.

This training is designed as an adjunct to professional astrology education. It does not replace a professional qualification, but sits alongside one — providing specialist safeguarding awareness that is not currently offered by other astrology schools.

Completion of all three levels results in a certificate of completion, indicating a clear understanding of the responsibilities, ethical considerations, and safeguarding principles involved in working with children’s charts.

Writing: The Fourth Book

I’m currently completing my fourth book, a project that has been with me for almost ten years.

It has been slow and, at times, laborious — but I’m now nearing the end. My aim is to deliver the manuscript to my publisher within the next few weeks, with publication expected next year.

Like Rohini itself, this book has taken the time it needed.

From Online Foundations to Live Work (2026)

Rohini Academy of Astrology has always been shaped by place and with travel restrictions nothing but a bitter memory, it is time to begin implementing all the fabulous ideas I had while wishing I could jump on a plane.

Recently, I landed in Toronto for some reconnaissance and research with time spent with Gaisheda Kheawok, and Nadiya Shah (and others), who will be helping me with future projects.

I’m currently in Detroit with my sister and her family — and helped them welcome a new puppy into the wider family circle. It’s my first time home for Christmas in 35 years and it’s been a very blessed time.

There will be more adventures as I reconnect with childhood friends in the next couple of weeks and juggle new projects.

While Rohini began online out of necessity, the next phase is now taking shape.

From 2026, I’ll be expanding Rohini Academy’s work to include more live, in-person classes, courses, and related activities, alongside the online teaching that remains central. Please do sign up for my newsletter or check in again for more information.

These plans are unfolding carefully. The intention is not scale, but depth — small, focused gatherings rooted in experience, research, and place.

Five Years In

Rohini Academy at five years old is not a finished project.

There are courses running, tours announced, books nearing completion, collaborations continuing, and longer-term plans forming quietly in the background.

Some things are visible. Others are still in progress.

For now, this post simply marks continuity — and the intention to keep going.

Rohini Academy of Astrology was founded in 2020 and continues to develop through teaching, research, collaboration, and practice.
