Remembering Amy
Amy Winehouse, one of my favourite singers, would have been 42 on 14 September 2025 and in the throes of her Uranus oppositions had she still been alive. Since her death, she’s had a couple of biopics/documentaries about her life, most recently “Back to Black” starring Marisa Abela. A short update on the astrological connections between the actress and the singer is in the article. Sadly Amy, like my beloved Janis Joplin, was a member of the Club of 27.

First published in 2011, it became one of my most enduring pieces, tracing the astrological archetypes behind Scarlett O’Hara, Rhett Butler, and others. Onstage at Steve Judd’s Shifts Happens: Alex Trenoweth unpacking Algol–history, myth and modern charts
The fixed star Algol has a peculiar way of following me. I first became interested in the myth of Medusa when I noticed the late, beloved Princess Diana had Algol conjunct her natal Venus–as does her son, Prince William. As the years went by began noticing more and more connections and, before you know it, a full article was, um, set in stone. The article was eventually published in The Astrological Journal and was shortly thereafter selected for republication on Astrodienst. In May 2025, I lectured on this topic at Steve Judd’s Shifts Happen event (photo on the right) and I also lectured on the topic at Oner Doser’s school in 2022.
